My mother can't walk properly. She walks slowly. At first we thought it's because her age but she is younger than my father. She has diabetes. She has been  suffering from memory loss since 2020. Now she is like a child but according to her age she should be fine. I am depressed that my mom is not the mom I saw. She was active, cheerful, and so intelligent now she is the opposite. She behaves like child. I couldn't think at 47 years old she will be like this.

Your mom needs to see her doctor, like today or do an ER trip.

Untreated or poorly treated diabetes can cause kidney failure and that leads to built up toxins, neuropathy and eventually death if not dealt with. It can affect the brain and act like dementia. It is not something that should be searched out on the internet, she needs medical intervention NOW!

Has she had a thorough workup from her doctor to find out what is going on, as like already said, she is WAY too young for any "age related" decline like your profile says?
I would have your father contact her doctor(s) to get her scheduled for every test possible to find out EXACTLY what is going on, as we are not doctors on here,(although we do have some nurses)and only they can give you the answers you all need.
Best wishes.

At 47 she doesn't have age-related decline. She is young. She may have early onset dementia, but that would need to be diagnosed by a health care provider. Has her depression been diagnosed and treated? That may contribute to her behaviour. Get mom to a doctor for a good checkup to assess what may be causing symptoms.

My BIL’s sister was diagnosed with depression . At first they missed Lewy Body , which was her real issue . She was only about 50.
