I did contact our attorney who forwarded the POA that he prepared to the Mortgage Co. – didn't help.

I am sorry to hear about your POA being denied. I would contact an elder care lawyer to help you make sure everything is in place with your Power of Attorney as well as help you refinance your home. This is not a situation you will most likely be able to solve yourself.
