My mom and hallucinations.

Whenever my mom gets a UTI she gets hallucinations. She lives in a Rehab center, and whenever I tell the nurse she says "well you know she has dementia", I have to argue with her to have her checked for a UTI and everytime she has one. But you have to fight for your loved one who is in a Rehab or Nursing care center because they only have you! And they take it for granted it's just one thing and you know from their history what it could be. They need you to stand up for them.

Have you discussed this with her doctor or their nurse practioner? Put an action plan in place? Have a meeting with the administrative folks at the Rehab center to voice your concerns about care? Cause that will affect their bottom line in funding and board review of level of care and complaints they have. I'd also consult with an elder law specialist in your neck of the woods to see what your rights and your mother's rights are. You can call your state Bar Association for lawyers they list who specialize in elder law. Since this seems to be an ongoing issue, may as well get tough.

Yes just because your loved one is placed in any nursing facility you still have to be their advocate and often their voice.
Keep up the good work with your mom.

You are so right. “But you have to fight for your loved one who is in a Rehab or Nursing care center because they only have you!” My heart aches for all the people in NHs who don’t have an advocate. Your mother is lucky to have you.
