Dementia and winter.

I was wondering if there is any information on dementia getting worse in the winter months, and getting better in the spring. Kind of like sundowning dementia patients get but a seasonal sun down instead of a daily sundown.

I get that it's harder to get out in the winter, and the colder weather is harder on them. Every winter I see a mental decline in mom and then spring comes and it slowly gets better.

Looking for things to read or watch about this, and if it is a thing or just my mother.

I know I don't do well in Winter. When the sun goes down, so do I. So I don't see why it would not effect someone suffering from Dementia.

I would think SAD (seasonal affective disorder) doesn't magically go away if you had it pre-dementia. I agree, it probably piggybacks on sundowning, making it worse in the northern winters.

I am actually finding some stuff on line, so I don't want to waist your time answering

And since it's still only April I have lots of time to learn more on how to deal with it.
