Hey folks, welcome to the new whine/general topic thread. Feel free to use this thread to discuss anything that is on your mind. Caregiving- related stuff, life after a loved one's death, your own emotional wellbeing. Whatever..........anything on your mind.
Already delayed buying for at least a year.
Was going to go today but not on boxing day!
And I need new phone!
Any suggestions?
Internet, cell phone, email.
send - I think that was the idea with the ipads that you can use for phone calls and the larger phones. A few years ago oldest son who knows this stuff said that was the intended direction. I don't think they are quite there. I am happy with my very much older iphone 8, which does more than enough for me, and my laptop.
Him and his wife really helped with Habitat for Humanity in 14 countries for 30 years.
Here's hoping 2025 is a good one for us all.
nacy- so sad
Worried over price increases in auto insurance quotes.
I started to think I might need to sell my car so contacted carvana online-it was only valued at $1,700. I love my car, and have always envisioned it worth a minimum of $5,000 forever, I guess, because it runs.
Just thinking on it, not contacting them back. A few days later, it was worth $1,900.
Now, it is worth $2100.
And I am thinking the value will keep going up if I never answer back, Lol.
Leather seats, sunroof, air conditioning, a 2005.
Aw gee, this is fun.
No worries.
ANOTHER quake. That's five I know of near the GG Bridge. Wonder if we are heading for the big one. Cali was FULL of quakes last year.
That and the fires. Were I a believer I would think that God must have a bone to pick with California, kids!
The earth is dying a slow death . It wasn’t designed to support so many people .
Our brains are always ahead of our computations of what is good for us; holds true of plastics and A.I. alike, but whose to say.
It is said that fully 98% of species once here are now lost. Only 2% left and as Carl Sagan said: Extinction is the NORM and survival the exception. We don't last long as a species. Interestingly, the dinos, as a species lasted much much longer than we're likely to. I am not certain anymore whether I long for us to go extinct, or just want that for myself. Ha ha. Don't get a vote anyway.
Funnily enough they just found the Island Volcano that went off way back when and cooled the earth by quite a lot. N. is wondering where our next Volcano may come from.
It's all quite fascinating. And with the best minds all over the earth on it all?
No one seems to have a CLUE. Nor even a clue to what is out there beyond out own Universe. I mean, the gods, maybe. Other than that mankind seems not to have a clue.
Good book to recommend to anyone:
The Ends of the World, by Peter Brannen. Walk Washington State when it was all Lava. See how many times we went South before we even GOT HER! Great read!
Cwillie, I think sometimes smaller ones help. Having just read Vesuvius, the smaller ones probably unplugged it for the big one.
I am sure not posting any of my concerns because they won't matter as much to me in 3 days.
This is just me, happens all the time. The monthly event crept up on me as I thought the fires had me unsettled. I failed to monitor on the calendar, but my mind and behavior told the whole story.
Taking a nap very soon.
It is somewhat reassuring whenever my dH tells me the smaller earthquakes may lessen the pressure build-up on a fault. But above 2.5, and a 3.5 is bigger, and could be a precursor to a larger E.Q.
Of course, I am just an observer of patterns, nowhere near an expert.
Stay calm everyone. Have some tea in a special teacup before your nap.
Try not to take yourself and your thoughts too seriously at this time.
I watched a movie a while back about a football player who was in prison for something he did not do. His mentor gave him book that helped free his mind.
It was "As a Man Thinketh" by James Allen. It saved his sanity. I ordered the book.
But it's so true. I took some meditation classes once upon a time and the instructor said "acknowledge the thoughts when they come but then just let them pass by" I've been really trying to do this when I get stressed out.
Trying to replace the negative thoughts with something positive.
All the best to you always.
