I was reading a post few days ago where you mentioned about sleeping in a recliner for the first 3-4 months after surgery. There was a couple pictures also but I don't remember where I saw it. I want to save it so I remember after my RTKR in January. I remember with my other surgery how the pain was so bad at night so I could never sleep. I never thought about sleeping in the recliner even though that was where I was most of the day. Would you please explain again about the recliner and show the pics? Also I'd like to view the proper way of elevating my knee with pillows.

I'm 5'9", 200 lbs, and I fill this chair right up https://www.reclinerland.com/best-recliners-for-sleeping/. I would look elsewhere if you're stockier. That's the closest thing I've got to a criticism. I just bought this chair for the second time. The first time, I just wanted the cheapest thing I could get for the occasional movie or whatnot. I was surprised that it wasn't bad at all

Bad idea. You sleep in a riser recliner for 3 or 4 months, you risk worsening back problems and galloping pressure sores.

During rehab you should have access to an occupational therapist. Seek advice then about how to position yourself comfortably in bed once you return home.

As said, we can't post pictures on the site all we can do is give website addys. I don't remember anyone even talking about recliners in the last few days.

Actually, I just looked it up and recliners are not recommended because of the difficulty getting in and out. There are bedrails that can help you get up out of bed.

I did find a video that sounds like what ur talking about.

I am not sure what type of recliner you are speaking of.

My mom had a recliner that used a remote control so she could stand up more easily. She had Parkinson’s disease and had mobility issues.

She loved her recliner and would nap in it often.

Good luck with your surgery and finding a suitable recliner that suits your needs.

Hi Leonard, I think you may have seen the recliners on another site because we can't post photos here on AgingCare. I would think any recliner that fits you and is easy to get in and out of would work, but also keep in mind that depending on your type of surgery you may find it difficult to raise and lower it. Good luck!
