Autumn Leaves of The Woodlands Life Enrichment program is based on a providing our residents a balanced approach to activities designed to match your loved one's interests and cognitive needs. Each of our activities have been hand-selected by our Memory Care Activities Coordinators and are based on specific selection criteria so that your loved one directly benefits from their participation.
Each of our enrichment activities work to ensure your family member’s sensory input, social engagement and cognitive needs are met. We constantly evaluate our daily activity plans to make sure we provide your loved one with meaningful and stimulating opportunities based on the following criteria:
- Sensory Interaction - Each activity that we offer must engage two or more senses (sight, sound, touch, taste, smell). By engaging two or more senses, our activities provide the opportunity for your loved one to utilize more parts of their brain, strengthening their remaining connections and improving cognitive reserve.
- Social Engagement - Many of the activities we offer will provide an opportunity for your loved to take part in a group setting. We want your loved one to participate with other residents in our community and encourage them to develop new friendships, which will provide them with additional opportunities to enrich their lives.
- Cognitive Ability - We understand that every one of our residents has their own individual disease progression path and that not everyone operates at the same acuity level. To accommodate the varying needs of residents, we have made sure that every one of our activities is scalable not only to the size of the group participating in an activity, but also to each individual’s abilities and interests based upon their current disease stage.
