During that very stressful time in ones life when a parent is recommended for and needs professional care and support we were given choices by the hospital and through personal research and intuition FirstLight Home Care of SD was chosen. We needed 24 hour care so as my Dad was being supported in his whereabouts and needs after a fall. After initial phone contact and terms and conditions agreed upon, Renuka met us at the Rehab facility. We were provided exactly what we needed in turn supplying us with the comfort to receive rest ourselves. Communication with Renuka and team was excellent. If we asked for what we needed we found comfort and support through their knowledge. Yes teamwork, family and Renuka and crew, is vital to tailor the needs of all involved. I am feeling quite fortunate that we made the right decision. Two way communication is critical. I always believe and felt on the same page making this such a successful endeavor. I recently moved my Mom into a Board and Care Home. She was feeling lonely and she wanted to get out and do some fun activities.I work full-time so there was little I could do to help her during the week. I learned that FirstLight provided companions to the elderly. I contacted them directly and they asked exactly what my mom was looking for in a companion and what she would be interested in doing. They set me up with the perfect fit for my mom so she would feel comfortable and at ease with her new friend. I liked that FirstLight took the time to identify my moms needs so she would be happy from the first encounter. My mom was very happy with their pick of a companion and she was excited to meet again the following week. Mom said her companion was fun and she enjoyed talking with her. They have been going out to eat, to the beach, and to malls every week since the first week. The management and caregiving staff have exhibited professionalism from day one. Mom is very happy to look forward to her weekly outings with her companion. We couldn’t be more satisfied. I would highly recommend FirstLight to other families looking for care.
