Nurse Next Door is an award winning home care company that provides assistance and support with all non medical related care for the elderly, new and expectant mothers, post op patients, those with physical and mental disabilities and those who are rehabbing from injury.

We assist and support with companionship, light housekeeping, cooking, laundry, errands, transportation to and from appointments, medication management and reminders, bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming as well as range of motion exercises, mental and physical stimulation and all essentials of active daily living activities.

We qualify all of our caregivers through a comprehensive 3 step interview process, obtain three professional references, run a comprehensive national and state criminal background check, check them against the state and national sex offender registry and the abuse registry.

We are also licensed, insured, bonded and all of our employees are direct employees who we cover for workers compensation.

We don't believe that seniors cannot play and still have fun, one of the questions that we ask in our caring consult evaluation is tell us one thing that you used to do that you really loved doing but no longer are doing any more.

We do not want to let a person feel afraid or overwhelmed in doing things that they used to love to do but are apprehensive about doing now because of their physical or mental limitations.

Travel and Adventure could be as simple as a client that we have who always wanted to go to Egypt but never was able to get there and now it would have been physically impossible to travel there.

His caregiver decided if he cant go to Egypt, maybe we can bring Egypt to him. She learned to cook Egyptian food, decorated his apartment to look like Egypt and rented Cleopatra for them to watch together.

It is amazing how the little things make such a huge difference in the lives of others. Learning and growth can be achieved through not buying into the adage that you can't teach an old dog new tricks. We had a client that always wanted to learn how to use a computer but always too intimidated.

Our caregiver signed him up to take computer lessons at the local community college and made sure she was always available to get him from and to his lessons. Within 3 months he could Skype with his grandkids and even opened a Facebook account.

Finally and most importantly is the emphasis that we place on socialization and relationships.

Seniors often are isolated and spend much time alone and we determined that by getting them active and involved engaging with others that their mental and physical health improved.

We get our clients involved with senior centers, book clubs, religious organizations, events and most importantly ensure that if possible they spend time with friends and family close by on a regular basis.
