SYNERGY HomeCare of La Mesa A Community of Caring
Hello everyone, I’m Ben! Thank you for taking time to read a little about us. I like to share stories that explain the motivations in my life. As such, there is a story behind my decision to be a part of the East Central County area in providing non-medical in-home care for people of all ages, especially our seniors.

Originally from the East Coast, educated in the Midwest, and having raised my family in Colorado, I have been living in San Diego County for nearly 4 years. I have two sons, one of which is an owner of a SYNERGY HomeCare franchise in Colorado, Greg; and my other son, Evan, who is just starting college.
My exposure to the various challenges of healthcare started in 1980 working in the medical laboratory, software and information technology service industries. My personal experience with healthcare challenges occurred in raising my younger son, Evan, who was diagnosed on the Autism spectrum at age 3, and with my mother, who recently passed away from Alzheimer’s at the young age of 76.

The exposure my family and I have had to the devastating impact of Alzheimer’s has called upon me to be a part of the solution in helping those in medical need, enjoy the most that they can of what life has to offer.
I live in La Mesa and am the owner of the SYNERGY HomeCare franchise in East Central County. Our services include providing companion care, light house duty and personal assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s) so that our loved ones can continue to live in their home for as long as they desire, or is medically possible.
I love the people of San Diego County and have experienced the warmth of the community of La Mesa and surrounding neighborhoods. I am truly blessed to be a part of the solution we deliver and to be your neighbor.
Our Care Director, Susan Phan, is a local San Diego neighbor here as well. She holds a Master in Healthcare Administration (MHA) and Bachelor in Marketing. Her internship was in Vietnam where her administrative, marketing and community service skills helped implement patient centered care programs at a hospital in Da Nang. Prior to joining Synergy HomeCare/La Mesa, Susan worked as a Community Liaison for Home Health Care, Community Based Adult Services (CBAS) agencies, and other health/wellness organizations.

Susan’s passion remains in promoting of health and wellness; specifically, to ensure individuals are able to receive the best care possible and surrounded by caring, compassionate supporters. Aside from her job as Care Director for Synergy, she volunteers as Co-Leader for the Department of Aging’s Healthier Living with Chronic Conditions™ programs throughout San Diego.

Susan is very familiar with caregiving. She was a Caregiver for her father who had emphysema; a chronic condition that limited his activities of daily living. Often, Susan was at the hospital, meeting with doctors, or working with various health agencies to advocate the best care for him. Through her life experiences as a family caregiver, she knew first hand the challenges associated with caring for a loved one. After her father’s death, a quiet promise to him was to earn her Master in Healthcare Administration and continue to be an advocate for persons with physical, mental and/or social challenges.

Growing up, she observed first-hand how the drive for helping others made a difference in the lives of individuals and is inspired to continue this vision with SYNERGY HomeCare, a company with the same high ideals and mission for providing quality in-home care services with the personal touch of which she is so familiar.
