Ted Schofner is acutely sensitive to the needs of seniors and their families. When his own father endured and died of early onset Alzheimer’s Disease, the attorney personally experienced the emotional and financial difficulties related to an aging parent. This solidified his dedication to the field of Elder Law, despite the wide-ranging opportunities in his distinguished legal career.

A third-generation Floridian, Mr. Schofner has always had the heart and competence of a leader, standing out as an honor student during his days at Largo Senior High School. He chose to attend Georgetown University for his Bachelor’s Degree and graduated cum laude. He then continued his studies at various institutions around the world, including the London Business School, The Hague Academy of International Law, and DePaul University, where he earned his Juris Doctor.

Mr. Schofner started practicing law in 1982. He soon earned the trust of high-profile entities, working with the Federal Communications Commission, the Federal Trade Commission, and an international firm based in Germany. In 1990, he returned to Florida to pursue his solo practice in Elder Law.

Mr. Schofner’s work in this field was soon recognized by the legal community. In 2004, he was selected as an Arbitrator in one of the first Nursing Home cases ever arbitrated in Florida, Newhouse v. IHS Riverfront. He has also been frequently invited to speak at lectures and in the media regarding legal issues affecting the elderly.

Mr. Schofner is a highly regarded member of various legal associations such as the Florida Bar, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, the American Justice Association, the Academy of Florida Elder Law Attorneys, Clearwater Bar Association, Thomas Pennick Inns of Court, and the prestigious Melvin M. Belli Society.

Along with his achievements and dynamic schedule, Ted Schofner continues to find time for community events. He is a volunteer in the Career Resource Center at HB Plant High School, where he counsels youth on their career goals. He also serves as an Alumni Interviewer for the Georgetown University Alumni Admissions Program. In addition to these, he is active in scouting, where he served as an Assistant Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America in Tampa, being an Eagle Scout himself.

Ted Schofner may be a respected and well-recognized lawyer, but for him, his greatest honor is being husband to his wife, Michelle, and father to sons Robert and Riley.
