About The Laurels at Highland Creek

Located in a quiet and secure neighborhood setting in Charlotte, North Carolina, The Laurels in Highland Creek Assisted Living community is custom-designed with a variety of apartment styles and multiple dining, recreational, service, and social areas – all beautifully appointed and decorated. Wide, well-lit hallways and a well-designed floor plan make all areas easily accessible for our assisted living residents.

All apartments feature individually controlled central heating and air conditioning, private bathroom with step-in shower, and a wireless emergency response system. To make residents feel even more at home, several apartment upgrade choices are available. Other amenities include a library, computer room, and areas for entertaining such as a private dining room and a large comfortable living room.

The Laurels chef prepares three delicious and nutritional meals daily, with a variety of menu choices. Residents enjoy dining and socializing in the beautiful sun-filled dining room. The Laurels care-giving team includes licensed nursing professionals and personal caregivers who assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, and personal hygiene. Customized care plans allow increased assistance to meet individual resident’s needs.

Ongoing special events, support groups and other activities are managed by The Laurels in Highland Creek’s full-time, on-site Activity Director. In addition to a full schedule of daily activities, the Activity Director coordinates regular visits to local shopping and entertainment areas.

I am a current client
If I were writing this review 6 months ago, I would have given this facility a '5' rating. My loved one was happy. They the new general manager came in (Jessica) and the new head of nursing (Michelle) and they redid the furniture in the living room so it would look good to people touring the facility but it is extremely user-unfriendly...very large and too deep for almost all residents! New general manger and new director of nursing are horrible - very unfriendly and autocratic. Multiple people have left to go to the new Ranson Ridge facility (6-7 residents) and I hear good things about it. We don't want to move our loved one but don't like the direction the new mangement is taking. They want to make all the decisions without talking to the family and engaging them in finding options and solutions and making informed choices. New director of nursing called my loved one by the wrong name! I wish Five Star would talk to the families to get our input on the last 6 months.
