Sorry to June. Looks like Administration took down the other two posts and left this one for answers.

So this medication is prescribed for your loved one? Is it working? Can you elaborate on your question for us? Or are you needing this cream now, yourself, in order to sleep?

Daddy had both oral and ointment types of benzos. The oral route was far more effective, but when he was unable to swallow, we used the ointment on the inside of his forearm.

Just be sure to wash YOUR hands after applying..unless you also want to chill out.

Do stay on top of the agitation thing. It can be hard to bring somebody 'down' who is frantic and anxious.

Why not just get a prescription for Ativan and stick the pill under their tongue to dissolve? A cream seems like a bother, and if it's used to treat nausea, why use it on someone who doesn't have that symptom?

In case anyone is wondering, this is Ativan, Benadryl and Haldol gel, used to treat nausea in chemo patients.

Thanks Barb for clarifying this. I had not heard of it. I wonder if it would be helpful to my MIL should she become agitated later in her journey.
