Does anyone know someone who has been diagnosed with normal pressure hydrocephilis?

This is not all that unusual. They often put a shunt into the brain to drain fluid, as the buildup of fluid can cause dementia. Unfortunately, elders having surgery under general anesthetics can also come out with dementia. So, it gets to be complicated.

Maybe there are other options. If you can do something non-surgical, that would be great. If surgery is recommended, talk about the risks with the doctor.

My Husband who is 68 years old had the shunt surgery this past June. He is 100% better than he was as he was suffering from memory loss and fatigue. He had some dementia but it is not as bad. The one thing he did develop from the surgery is horriffic headaches. He can not bend down to pick something up off the floor without pain. Please discuss this with Mom's Dr. They give him all kinds of pain medication but it doesn't help.
