My husband is 62 and was diagnosed with Lewybody dementia 15 months ago. He seems to walk about like a zombie, sleeps on and off all the time, but still says he is tired and feels awful. Is this just part of dementia?
When was the last time he saw his doctor? This could be a side effect of medication, or he could have other health issues. He really needs a checkup, and if one doctor says there's nothing to do, I'd see another for a second opinion, in case something is being missed. Carol
I agree with Carol, go for a second opinion. Have his tyroid rechecked. How was he before the diagnosis? Could it be that since hearing the diagnosis that he is depressed and feels that life isn't worth living? Check out Lewy Body on the web. Lewy Body is an offshoot of Parkinsons. Shuffling gait is normal- excessive sleeping and being tired is not.
