dementia- how do we confront her?

My mother is showing signs of dementia- forgetting, confusion, not clear on details, can't make decisions. She lives on her own and I am concerned. Do we tell her she is confused? How do we get her to ask her doctor for testing? She won't let me go with her to the doctor.

How old is your mother? Does she admit that's she's slipped a cog or two? You need to be there with her at her next doctors appt, regardless of her thoughts on the matter. Tell her you want to make sure the doctor is doing right by her, so you NEED to be there. Make it legal too, with the medical power of attorney and her health care provider. Sounds like it's time to get proactive with moms care. Good luck to ya..
