My dad has Post-Polio Syndrome, what can I do for the pain?

There are a lot of pain specialist out there who can help control the pain without getting addicted to heavy meds-most hospitals and most large medicial groups have them.

My wife has post polio. applied heat and muscle relaxant help some.

Thank you so much, I will definately check into this. For the last few years they just keep telling him to have his knees replaced. He keeps telling them that it isn't his knees. I found post-polio syndrome on my own and now the nuerologist says that there is not a lot short of narcotics they can do about it. This gives us something to try at least. Thanks again.

Here's something that has helped me for several years and I experience a huge difference in pain levels. I order powdered L-carnitine from JoMar Labs and take one scoop a day. If I take it first thing in the am on an empty stomach I almost have no pain that day (unless I lift something or overdo it). It is absolutely amazing how much this has added to the qualilty of life I have.

Other things - taking a nap relaxes my muscles.
