Hire respite care for your loved one through an in-home agency. Try them out first so you feel comfortable. Some areas have assisted living where they take people for a short stay. Check around. Good luck, Carol
Hire respite and if you are going out of the country, have their attorney be given, temporary POA, until you get back. (in case something happens that needs immediate attention)
My husband and i are going on a few vacations short term up to a week at a time. My father lives with us, when we are gone he doesn`t eat anything that he has to cook, not even microwave. He has some dementia(sp?) he forgets how to use the appliance. I was wondering if there are trustworthy agencies that will come in once a day or twice a day to bring him his favorite food Jack in The Box and to just make sure he is OK. He bathes on his own but i am always fearful he will fall whe we are gone. He also has kife alert but forgets he has it.
