I am wanting to know how to get paid for caring for my father, as I had to quit work to do it?

I tried to find out about getting paid from my mother's insurance and from the Veteran's admin. and after filling out a ream of paperwork and waiting months it was to no avail. If you figure out how to do it please let me know.
