I have been caring for my 87-year-old mom for over 4 years now. Is there any financial help for me for her care since my father was a veteran?

You definitely need to contact the Veterans Administration about your mom, as she may get some benefits from your dad's record. Also
she may qualify for Medicaid, but you'll have to go through her Social Services to find this out.

You should check out your state's Web site, as well. Each state is different (these programs are federally funded but state administered). So, try going to your state Web site. Type "aging" in the search and follow the local links for information. You will find the National Caregiver Support Program on the site (could have a different name). This can also be very useful. Does she have money, funds, a house? Any assets. Caregiving expenses come out of her money, not yours. In house caregiver or an assisted living home. When her money is spent down then medicaid can kick in. Call medicaid. Home Health care - call them- they will come out and assess her, even send a social worker to your home to go over agencies that could help you and your mom. They have physical therapist and occupational therapist (how she gets around in her invironment) lab work, all come to you and 100% covered by medicare.
