If my aunt is in a nursing home, can she write me a check to pay for her bills?

I think I will have to defer this answer to the "experts" for you. Every state is different on thier medicaid laws. It may depend if medicaid is paying for the nursing home, or if she is just in there for rehab to home. She is on medicaid. She only has $8000 to her name. If anything happens to her there will be no money for anything. She wants to write me a check to manage her bills. She should be out of the nursing home in 8 weeks. She will need help when she gets home.

Is she on Medicare or Medicaid? Can you bring in her bills and she can writer her own checks? Are you her POA? Need to know how the NH is being paid for before I think a proper response can be made.
