Can a family member be paid for care?

Do you mean by the government? I do not believe that a person can be reimbursed for assisting a family member. I suggest going onto the Medicare/Medicaid websites for information. I do believe that if you are financially supporting and caring for a relative, you may be able to claim that person on your taxes - that's another avenue you may wish to explore.
