How can I keep from going out every other day to get medication?

dotsi Jan 2011
If your MD or your NP will work w/you ,your scripts can be written/coordinated to a date where they all line up,and come up for renewal at the same time. This will be much easier also ,if you go to a local (mom&pop) pharmacy, rather than to one of the big chains that don't give a damn. This is one more reason for medical reform. Big pharma and the Insurance companies should be meeting the CONSUMERS NEEDS,not the other way around as it is now. You have enough to deal with. Good luck and God Bless. D.

What I did was used Excel to list all my lother's meds, then tried to group them every two weeks. It took about a month to get them all on the same date, but in the end it's worth it. Now I go every two weeks to pick up 5-7 meds each time.

Most Pharmacies (Walmart, KMart, Walgreens, Kroger) have a list of generic drugs that they do 90 day refills on for a low cost for those without insurance. Get a list of these drugs from your pharmacy, if your RX isn't on the list ask your doctor if there is a generic that could be substituted. Good Luck!

Many small drugstores will deliver the meeds to your home. They can also deliver all of your health care supplies- it makes caregiving much easier.

Our medical plan allows us to order a 90-day supply of our prescribed drugs, which means we never have to go to the pharmacy. And shipping is free.
