Two signs were clear for me: (1) when my pitbulls wouldn't get near me after a hard day's work; and (2) when all my dreams were work-related. The key was managing my time more efficiently as well as consistently enforcing the boundary between work and personal life.
For quite a while I didn't have a life; I had a job which was my life but I was in complete denial about it. Now I don't even pick up the phone on my days off, especially if it's the office calling. Either I take care of myself or die a little faster.
