Has anyone used a baby monitor so they could go outside while their Mom inside?

Hi INsane, (I agree with yearight about the screen name),
I sure do use a baby monitor. I got the Graco that doesn't look a baby monitor and I call it a patient monitor. It has two speaker units (they have a belt clip) and one microphone/patient unit. That way I CAN go outside during the day and have the patient unit beside his recliner; the patient monitor is beside his bed at night with a speaker unit beside the bed. (I CAN use the speaker unit to let him I'll be there soon, but he doesn't always hear me, so I don't use that feature much.)

Because he is ambulatory, I have bells Everywhere: on his walker is a bicycle bell, beside the toilet is a bell on elastic that hangs on the wall, on the hospital bed each rail has a bell and beside his recliner is a bell that hangs from a shelf on one of those coil key ring things. I tried the bells without being tethered and they fell or he could not find them, sigh.

Before I left him alone in a room I Proved to him by demonstrating that the patient monitor worked so he fears could be allayed. Now he is OK with my being in another room of our 1,200 sq ft house or outside; though he still prefers human company in the same room - but sometimes that just cannot be done.

Yes insane, geez I don't like to call you that!! But I do understand! However, back to your question, I use a baby monitor. I have the transceiver in my parents bedroom and the receiver in mine. That way I can hear them at night.
