Mother is on a waiting list for a nursing home close to me, but has been temporarily placed in a home too far from me. Will they let her go to the one close to me when they get to her on the wait list?

My mother is on a waiting list for a nursing home close to my place, but has been placed in nursing home too far from me. I am concerned if that one I want opens up for Mom, will current nursing home let her go? Mom is 81 and has advanced dementia.
She was discharged from behavioral heath unit at the hospital and placed
in a nursing home yesterday that had a space available for her which I
am very unhappy because it's too far. Mom still knows me and we're
close. 37 miles away compared to one close by that's 5 mies away and is
much nicer within this gated community that we live in.

What has the nursing home that your mom is in said about this? Did you tell them that's it's not personal, but that you wanted your mom closer to you? And will the place closest to you take her with advanced dementia? I'd be asking some questions, and getting my ducks in a row when there comes an opening. As far as I know, nursing homes are still not prisons.
