My dad has arthritis everywhere in his body and is having a hard time getting out of his life chair. How can I get him a life chair so that he can get around more comfortably?
I would recommend checking with your state's assistive technology project. They should have information about various types of chairs and other equipment which will help him with seating, reaching, grabbing, lifting, etc. You can look up your state's office at http://resnaprojects.org/allcontacts/statewidecontacts.html. They should also have info on financing any purchases whether through benefits, assistance, or low-cost loans.
Is your dad getting any kind of social services now? My mother's case worker arranged a lift chair for her. The first one didn't fit her petite body, so they took it back and brought another one. Does dad have an OT or PT who could recommend a chair for him?
