If cancer has spread to the lymph nodes, what changes should we expect to see in the coming months?

My dad has thyroid cancer and the ct scan report says he has a enlarged lymph node in his groin area and several in his chest area. He can have no more treatments done is what his drs. say if the cancer has spread. So what health changes can we expect to see in him in the months ahead???

I'm so sorry. This is hard to digest, but it seems the oncologist is telling you that there is no cure. You could get a second opinion to be sure, if you feel that is necessary.
The changes will show in how tired he feels, more infections and likely increasing pain. Please consider hospice care when medical opinion says he has six months or less to live. Hospice will control his pain and offer support - practical, emotional and spiritual - to him and your whole family. Some people live longer under hospice care, because pain is controlled. The doctor will help with these decisions if you ask. Take care of yourself, too. This is all difficult to handle.

Sweetie, I'm afraid that is still a question only the oncologist can answer. There may be no other changes except the susceptability to other conditions. I know it is difficult to wait until all the tests are done, bit it is what it is, good or bad, and you can't fix it. You want to be prepared to give him the best care possible, and I love you for that, but no one may know what comes next. Have your questions answered by his doctors. Many hugs and angels are being sent to you......

Seemie thank you for answering back and for the hugs. I am feeling them. Love you!

Mindingourelders- thank you for your response also you have given me more information than all of these drs put together have and I appreciate your honesty about that. That is all we want to know. Why do they have to keep us in the dark about this stuff. And I found a swollen lymph node under his arm today. Thank you again!!!! Hugs. Stormy
