Medicare is likely paying for their health insurance. If you are looking at a nursing home, they will probably have to pay the costs themselves until their assets are nearly gone. Then you will help them with the paperwork to qualify them for Medicaid. If they have very little money, they may qualify now. You can find out through social services.
