I recently got diagnosed with COPD, could anyone share experiences they have had with COPD?

being a caretaker for my 84 year old mother. I have never smoked but lived with secondary smoke for the first 30 years of my life. Also, I have been a teacher for 35 years and constantly caught illnesses from children. I retired at Christmas due to the impact COPD has had on my health. I have excellent medical care but very little practical advice or sharing of information.

COPD is tough to live with, but it can be managed. Being a caregiver as well makes it even harder. Remember that it's important to take care of your own health. You can't care for your mother if you get sicker. I'd suggest that you go to one of the many health sites online and look for COPD specific support to help you there. Please keep checking Agingcare for your issues with caring for your mother.

RLP,

I am sorry to hear that you recently got diagnosed with COPD while caring for your mother. That is a tough situation but I know you are strong enough to care for both. have attached an article to help you understand more about COPD. Hope this helps,
