If a POA is revoked by an Alzheimer Patient, can a new one be put in place?
Has anyone had their parent or loved one with Alzheimer's revoke a POA? Have you been able to have it reinstated? I still have the Health Surrogate document.
My father revoked the POA he assigned me. He does not fully grasp the ramifications of what he has done but his lawyer says his actions are legitimate. He does not want anyone else to act on his behalf. He is 90. I guess we will just live with his actions and see what happens down the road. Thanks!
I think a lot depends on whether the person is competent to take legal actions. Does he or she understand the concept of having someone else authorized to act in their behalf? I don't think that dementia in itself automatically means the person is considered incompetent.
