What to do when a loved one is being cared for by a suspected drug abuser?

You could call your local county social services and ask them to do a welfare check on your grandmother. You may want to ask them not to say who called. It's wonderful that you are concerned for her. Since her son has POA, unless you get legal help you may not be able to do much more. But if social services finds that your grandmother is in danger, they have the power to take some action. Thanks for the quick reply. I thought about that as well, but concerned that this might put her into a bad situation as well. Do they really do a thorough job of investigating? He can be pretty manipulative. I have thought about hiring someone to "provide care" a couple of times a week to give me a better idea of what is going on. The problem for me is that I live 8 hours away and don't see the every day stuff. I am certain thought that she is in a bad situation and that I need to take care of the situation for her. I know that if I don't nobody else will. Nobody deserves to live out the end of their life with abuse.
