Is there is any financial assistance, either from the VA or Medicare, available for daily home health care?

My husband is 87 years old and very worried that he may have to go to a nursing home, but if he should need help on a daily basis, that would be cost prohibitive for us. I am not physically able to assist him with personal care and he is slowing down so much that I'm afraid that soon he will be unable to care for himself. I have been told that financial assistance "may" be available, but don't know who to contact.
