Mom's diabetes numbers are very high and medicines are not working. Any suggestions?

For the past week I have fed my mother a liquid diet and pureered food.
She has diabetes and her numbers are very high. I tried liquid metformin after a liquid meal and her numbers are not getting any better. her numbers have been very high for a week. I asked her doctor what could I do as mother cannot swallow solid food and may no be eating enough so that the medicine will work. Cider vinegar and palm oil worked in the past but not now. Any suggestions? cared to take her to a hospital during a holiday.
