What causes my 80 year old mom to step on one foot and not know it?
My 80 yr old mom has a tendency to step on one foot with the other foot while walking and not notice it then try's to pull the foot being stood on out from the other foot and possibly fall?
I would think neuropathy as well. Is she a diabetic? Diabetic neuropathy can cause lessening of feeling to the point that someone doesn't even feel the foot.
But there might be an issue with gait as well, in that she's apparently not walking straight.
Have you take her to a neurologist to determine if neuropathy exists, or to an orthopedic doctor to explore whether or not there are any spinal issues, such as a condition that might involve a nerve which would otherwise govern walking straight?
