Well why doesn't she look for an elderly roommate, or can you move in? For a few months, possibly six can she with help of her resources if any and yours and family to stay put and find someone else to move in. Also during this time can if she can hold off put her name on a senior housing list, can you get a elderly social worker to help?
I believe every county has HUD subsidized independent apartment housing for seniors. Their rent level is based upon their income. Perhaps check the California govt website for those lists. There is usually a waiting list for those places, but you might get lucky. You might also check with your local church groups for references.
Yes we have been looking for the last two weeks. My mom is currently in a Condo and her best friend was supposed to move in but changed her mind at the last minute and cannot afford 1100.00 per month in rent by herself. It is hard to find someone to move in where she is and bring furniture with them. She is currently living in a two bedroom and two bathroom condo. She could split the rent with someone but they would need to bring in furniture and she does not have much. She is 80 years old and can take care of herself and she still currently drives. She is in need of finding a place to live within 2 weeks.
Have you looked on Craigslist in your area? According to your profile, you are caring for your mom at home? Who will care for her elsewhere? How old is she? Does she qualify for medicaid or medicare?
