My datscan came back abnormal and the doctor said I do not have Parkinson's at this time. I thought the Datscan was yes or no?

I typed "datscan" into google .. the first result from PDF (Parkinson's Disease Foundation) is pretty helpful in understanding what it can and can't do. Since the scan can't provide a definite diagnosis, I'd be asking: "In what way is it abnormal, and what IS going on? What can I do about it, if anything? What's next?"

I think you should check your info. I don't think there is a definitive test for Parkinson's. They determine based on symptoms. You have symptoms for early parkinson, but your symptoms could beanything right now. Good luck , get a second opin ion

I have funny feeling along right side of body and tremors in hands ( sometimes while resting).been suffering anxiety from job related . (quitting) handwriting just about gone (very shakey) It is also a Dat Scan not a Cat scan. Dat scan should verify Parkinson vs. Essential tTremors.

From what I understand, a catscan just shows if normal or abnormal. It does not "identify" if you have a disease or dementia. When mom was first diagnosed, it was Dementia/Alzheimer/Lydigo Butig/Parkinson. It was a very broad identification because they knew she had dementia but not Which One.....I have read here over and over of a parent whose behavior was obviously of dementia or related illnesses, but their test results came back as normal or abnormal. Not enough damage to the brain for the doctor to diagnose the parent as having dementia, etc... Unfortunately by the time it shows brain damage, you're already deep into the disease.

May I know why you think you have Parkinson's? And what is your doctor's current diagnosis or recommendation?
