Dad is freezing and irritable in the shower, is this common? Any solutions?
I feel like this must be a common problem but I am a new and stressed out caregiver looking for anything to help. He fights with me on everything that has to do with bathing and is cold? Is this common? Solutions?
In the meantime while you're waiting for help from the occupational therapist, you may try Googling on YouTube. She explains why some give us difficulty in bathing.

Ladee, thanks for those suggestions, not there yet,mom is still able to get in and out of the tub and had to do it twice tonight, those damn antibiotics for, yes, yet another UTI, really mess her up, literally, if you know what I mean. But I do see showers in our future.
From my experience, if your dad has Alz or Dementia, there is problems with their concept of what is going on.... a small electric heater turned on in time to warm the bathroom... keeping the shower head pointed away from them, or the kind with the long hose.... I would lower the hose and let the water hit the bottom of the shower.... sometimes the water hurts their skin.... something that is comfortable for us, is not comfortable to them..... and when I would wash hair, I would put a folded wash cloth over their eyes, even if it got wet, the water was not going on their faces..... and also sometimes the noise of the water hitting the shower stall seems magnified to them...just some things to consider.

My big strong husband is starting to suffer a lot from the cold. That's the kind of thing that makes me think he may not be with us forever.
