Can anyone tell me the best route or any tricks for expediting the Aid and Attendance turn around?

Am getting real close to applying; had one nice guy tell me his average time was 3-4 months, but he was selling an annuity. as my father is already in an alf, the funds are getting sucked up.
Someone gave me a local veterans affairs name. should I use that and try it on my own?

I forgot to mention, that you send the packet Registered Mail. You will have your receipt of the day that they receive it. You will then receive a letter stating the day that the application went into the review process.

All of the questions must be answered, and you need the original discharge papers. (They will be mailed back to you.) In addition, a cover letter explaining that the age of the recipient necessitates expedited review. It took three month's to the day for my mother to receive her benefits at 94.

We just tried for a&a ourselves. Doctor wrote on their form to expedite because of declining health. We faxed info to VA and used some snail mail. We received a judgement letter quickly, 6 weeks from initial filing. Two days after he passed. Unfortunately MIL was declined any benefit because of too many assets. A lot of work needs to be done on house, we sold the car and had to put him in ALF to save money vs 24 hour care at home. Long story but read forms and fill them out completely and response is much better than trying to get other comp from VA. Good Luck

we applied for it thru a for profit elder care agency. they cant charge you for the service, by law, and they know the tricks to make it go thru. in 4 months exactly we were to get our first check but mom passed away a few days before it began. im not very good with legal forms so you know they must have made it simple for us. if you deal with the va directly your grandkids will die before its approved.

There is no expedite. If you have his discharge papers and all his financial data you are off to a good start. Most people don't have their papers in order. Go to the top blue bar on this page, click on money and legal and then go down to Veterans Benefits.
