When did my hair turn white is my mom's question of the day. All of the sudden she seems unrecognizable to herself. Anyone else?
Do they get to the point they do not recognize themselves any more? Mom's hair has been white for at least 40 years. This caught me completely by surprise.
two of the most brilliant people who ever lived were of the same opinion on storing useless facts. both einstein and hitler claimed that remembering trivial detail would clutter up the brain -- only need to remember where its written down. i didnt say hitler was nice but he went from street people to leader of western europe in 10 months.
Capn- I know computers get loaded to capacity, I wonder if the human brain could as well. So many function perfectly fine, I imagine according to these researchers they just have a larger brain?
just read an interesting article in the daily mail. researchers are thinking that an elders brain slows down because its full. the brain is electricity over chemical just like a computer and ive had computers that were loaded to capacity and its very similar. i know at 55 my brain is slow, especially after a hard work day.
Yes, the picture files in memory all get deleted except for the distant past. They look for toddlers who are now 60 plus. I know when my husband loses it, he won't know who I am, he'll be looking for a girl in a red bikini.
my mother stood 3 feet from my face and told me i wasnt bob. that wasnt a visual hallucination as my appearance is quite distinguished. instead it was a paranoid delusion, and yes in many cases its perfectly normal in late stage. mom also told hospice i was trying to kill her -- but she didnt want me to leave. those two statements in the same paragraph contradict the hell out of each other.
