Food sticking to dentures. Advice?

If her tongue feels like sand, it sounds as if the problem isn't the dentures, it's lack of saliva.

All of the above foods, plus custard (proper custard, made with whole egg and cream). Or, at this stage, anything juicy that takes her fancy. If she'd like savoury, try seafood cocktail if she likes that. Don't worry about salt, sugar, fat or anything else at this point, just her palate. And don't forget milk.

P.S. Ensure and Boost

I understand why her dentures needed to be removed when she was sicker but is there a reason why she can't have her dentures now other than food sticks to them? If she is hungry she should eat. How about foods that aren't sticky, that won't get stuck on her dental plates? Pudding? Yogurt? Jello? Soft cooked egg? Soup? Or how about a sip of water in between each bite?

It's true that when someone gets to a certain point they don't want to eat and the body no longer needs the food but if she is hungry and wants the taste of food, wants to eat, she should be able to.

Talk to her MD and ask if it is time for Hospice. Weight loss, inability to eat are not corrected by a feeding tube when the body is shutting down. I am so sorry you don't have all the information. Talk to the doctors in detail, and accept their prognoses. The time is short, call in your angels to guide you.
