How can I stop my sister, who has POA, from putting my Mom in a NH?

My sister has power of attorney on my Mom. My husband and I are willing to have her live with us. My sister wants to put her in a nursing home. How can I stop that from happening?

I have looked at your profile and there is not much info there. Where is mom living now? Does she have dementia? Does she need 24/7 care? Who is providing that now?

Before you even consider having mom in your home you need to understand all of her ailments. If your sister is caring for her now then offer her a month off, go and stay with mom there, don't move her for this short time. Then, and only then make the decision for her to live with you, if you find you are still willing to do this.

Oh boy, don't rush into this unless you can talk to Mom's doctor. Get a complete idea of her medical issues, because if you read the postings here, too many well-meaning children have taken parents in only to discover they cannot do the 24/7 job that takes three shifts of nurses to accomplish. It sounds like sis is overwhelmed with caregiving, maybe you can tackle that first, help her out 3-4 days a week. If Mom is well enough, she could go to Assisted Living and she might enjoy being with people her own age. Our mom likes it so far. Explore all your options before you make a decision.
