My friend is not elderly, but is getting up in years: around 64 years old.
She is in Midwest, I am on east coast so going there physically is not an option (as I'm trying to take care of a 91 year old as well).
She has been unwell for quite a while. When I would call she had just gotten over a cold, did not have any energy, etc. This persisted for quite a long time, when urged to go to doctor, would say she is waiting on insurance.
A couple of weeks ago, @ Wednesday 15 or 22, (time is blurring) she could not stand when getting out of bed and called paramedics.
She was discharged the following day with some meds, her liver was not functioning right, she was not eating right. I think she is suffering from severe depression, personally.
I was able to call her a couple of times (along with another friend) but Wednesday of last week (march 26) was the last day of contact. The other friend (whom I call as well) said she could hear the phone beeping because it was running down.
Now I get no answer. I have tried emailing whom I think is a son, I have left one message with one number, and am going to try and leave messages on others. So far no one has gotten back. I really do not want to involve her ex.
I am thinking if I hear nothing in any form by Wednesday April 2 I am going to call the local police.
Approve? Any other suggestions?
thank you.

Friends' sons came round and picked friend up and now she is staying at one of the sons house. The other son called me last night. He had gotten my message on Saturday. I do not know when they picked up friend.
He did say that if they had not done that, things might not have turned out as well. The hospital had notified them so I really do not know at what point they intervened.
I did have quite a few phone calls with the police. They did go out, could not get an answer, called me for the sons phone numbers and it sounds like they managed to get hold of one before they did any damage to the door or window.
so far, all's well that ends well.
I hope this is a false alarm and if it is, be sure to get the name and number/email of a local nearby neighbor who can act as a go-between. I'm single and 63 and another single friend and I shared that info with each other (she also lives in another state). She wasn't very good about answering her phone and it would concern me. Particularly when you're single and alone. Please let us know how it turns out.
you think someone would know how to pick a lock.
