Well, first of all, sorry for your loss...Second, it is either time or past time to hit the home office and search for the "Important Papers." You may be able to get somewhere just calling a GM benefits center, or going online at gmbenefits but you will probably need SSN and maybe some other numbers that would be on pay stubs or retirement fund/pension checks. She might have quite a few things that will be of great help financially, there may be old policies tucked away in a file drawer somehwere besides the company related ones, and the Social Security payment will change with your dad's passing - typically "his" will stop, and "hers" may increase a little.
Can Mom help at all with this process? It's not easy, especially while your grief is so fresh, but there are a lot of notifications to be made and paperwork to be handled. And there will be things that will keep coming for up to a year or two to deal with.
