What government agency is in charge of detecting if a company is a fraud or not?
A friend received a letter from euromillions commonwealth of nations lottery that she won the sweepstakes, and she has to pay 600 dollars for a bank transfer. Is this legal or scam? this is from madrid, spain.
This is totally a scam! The worst scam going around these days is one where a person calls you to say that he is from Microsoft. He then proceeds to tell you that there are viruses running in your computer that you can not see that are slowing your computer down. While that maybe true if you have a virus checker you should be good. He will then ask you to turn on your computer a follow his instructions so that he can fix your problem for you. DON'T DO IT! If you do he will gain access to your computer remotely and corrupt your hard drive. He then proceeds to tell you that he found the problem and wants you to give him your credit card info to pay him so that he will "fix" the problem............my mother's 82 tear old friend fell for this scam and he proceeded to invade her bank accounts, charge numerous things on her charge cards and other accounts that he found in her computer. She realized that something was wrong only after the credit card company called her. She has since had to replace her computer, close all credit accounts, and bank accounts and open new ones. No one can tell you that they know that your computer is messed up unless you allow them to have access remotely, never say yes and follow instructions from someone who calls you!

Any so called offer that requires payment for anything in order to win is a scam.
Report it to the FTC.
Most likely the so-called company doesn't even exist and it's just a bunch of fraudsters looking for gullible people.
