It is called a home care worker. There is a lot involved in getting one. This worker is in helping the caregiver when it is needed. For transportation to appts., maybe 5 days a week, etc.
I guess it was on another site, I saw where there was a hired caregiver, I forgot the title they used. I had just never heard of it before and was asking about it. And how do you come up with a cg that wasn't hired, or diagnosed by the doctor? Live in?
This is all up to you and your family, and your loved ones needs. If you really mean Your family, then come up with a plan you can all work with based on your LO needs. If you mean a CG FOR your loved one... We simply hired one. We knew the folks needed help when they moved in here, but Mom was resisant to full time once she got out of rehab. We had full time days for Dad while she was in for the days I worked. Now we pay for 5 hours a day when I work.We never had a Dr prescribe anything. it was obvious Dad could not be alone with his ALZ, and the CG helps with driving to apts, company, etc. I guess I;m not really sure if you mean family CG as in your family will be doing it, or a CG for a family member?
When you are suffering from being the Caregiver, you need to hire one. In Alaska the hourly rate is $15 to $39 /hr. No perscription from doctor needed. Some are live-ins and some just stop by. Be very careful, ask for references. We were robbed 3 times since last October by caregivers. Hundreds of $ from our purses, and about $10,000 to $20,000 worth of jewelry (my Mom's lifetime collection).
