As it is very clear to you all how stressful caregiving can be! I have taken care of my grandmother last year, and I take care of her now once in a while, she doesn't even know my name, or doesn't want to remember it, I once gave her a new shirt, and helped her wear it, and as soon as turned my back she removed it and put it under her pillow, and she doesn't want to wear it at all! I got upset about it and a bit mad, I mean I know she’s old and dealing with dementia… and the list is long, but I couldn't help it.

But you need to do some reading on dementia if you think your grandmother doesn't remember your name because she's not trying. Her brain is broken and she can't help it. Go to youtube and watch some Teepa Snow videos on Alzheimers and dementia. Your grandmother can't help it.
For what it's worth, a lot of Alzheimer's/Dementia peeps tuck their prized possessions under their pillows. Just in case someone wants to come along and take it!! She is making sure it stays safely tucked away with her.
