Has anyone encounterd a parent that can't walk without help "scooting" on their butt out of bed and across the floor?
She gets out of bed and scoots around the floor rubbing sores on her but. We have a hospital bed from Hospice but she goes around the rails and onto the floor. I've been watching this web site for a couple of months and have learned a lot!
What about an electric wheelchair or a scooter? Most insurance will pay most or all of the cost. Or depending on cost, what about a used one? Good luck
When I was a kid, we had a Rainbow vacuum that had a square dolly with swivel casters. I used to scoot around on it all the time. Made my mother crazy, Maybe if you could get her something like that she would be happy and would not make sores on her butt, but could move around close to the floor. Sounds to me like she is afraid of falling, has weak legs or both.
she does have a walker but she needs help using it. One person has to guide the walker and the other go behind to catch her if she falls. What she wants to do is go to the kitchen or bathroom on he own which she is incapable of doing by herself.
Does she have a walker available? If her legs still work to some degree she can even sit on the walker and scoot around on it. That would be preferable to scooting on the floor.
