Physicians refuse to take patients based on age alone. Any advice?

There is no point in going to a doctor who does not participate in Medicare or Medicaid, unless you have a good supplementary plan like Blue Cross or Independent Health. Call your health insurance company and ask them to find an Endocrinologist who will accept their plan, and find out if you must have a referral from your Primary Physician.

Perhaps they don't want to take Medicare patients because of the reimbursement issues.

If you can find out which hospital that group is affiliated with, you can complain to the hospital, although I don't know how much sway the hospital would have on its affiliated physicians.

It's unfortunate though that anyone has to experience this, but I have also although no one has directly stated they don't want to deal with old patients. It was in the nominal treatment that they made clear they didn't particularly want older patients.

It's easier to just find another doctor, but ask when you call or e-mail if they accept patients of your age, and with your insurance coverage.

I dont have an answer for that one. Check with another dr or a geriatric dr. Maybe your insurance can help you find a dr.
