Anyone familiar with Ditropan?

My father, 93 and in declining health, has urine incontinence when he is sleeping, he's fine if he is awake. His doc. recommended ditropan. Is anyone familiar with this drug?

Do you have personal experience with this med? Has one of your parents used it?

Generic name is oxybutynin, an anti-cholinergic medication. Chronic exposure to anticholinergic medications adversely affects the course of Alzheimer disease. Also bad for Lewy Body dementia. BUT it helps patients with Parkinson's, as it is an anti-spasmodic. Patients with vascular dementia may be at risk for heart attack if they take it. So you need to know what "declining health" means in detail.
